Forecast
"Tides" will open the AyeTides app (if installed) to the center of the Chart view position. iNavX can be returned to from the AyeTides main menu by pressing the "<=" button in the upper left hand corner.

"Theyr Weather Parameters" allows weather forecasts to be plotted over the Chart view. This feature does require an account at x-traverse.com and an internet connection. Once a forecast is selected the [<<] and [>>] buttons can be selected on the Chart view to decrement or increment the forecast date. The Animate button can be selected to have the forecasts cycled. Tapping on the chart and selecting "Forecast" will display more detail.

A GRIB is a weather forecast. Use the "Request GRIB" to have the GRIB sent to your device.

Days Number of days of the forecast
Hours Interval of the forecast
Resolution Resolution of the forecast. Typicallly one degree equals about 60 NM
Area Area of the forecast as centered from the Chart view

Computer model to use for Wind forecasts:

"GFS" is available globally and will use the above parameters

'COAMPS" will always be 0.2 degree resolution (High resolution), 2 days on 6 hour intervals.
Limited to three regions: East-Pacific: 29n,60n,160w,114w / West-Altantic: 20n,55n,093w,055w / Cent-Am and Carib: 00n,32n,120w,060w
otherwise "GFS" Wind Model is used

Request Via

The method to use for the "GRIB Request":

"X-Trav" will use the X-Traverse server to make the request. An account at x-traverse.com must be created to use this method. At x-traverse.com in the "Settings", the option to have the GRIB file emailed is available by selecting "Forward GRIB Notifications". "Import GRIB" will show the available GRIBs on x-traverse.com.

"Email" will make use the Mail app to make the request. The GRIB forecast will come in as an email with a file attachment in the Mail app. To import hold down the GRB file attachment in the email and select "Open In..." "iNavX".

"XGate" or "AxcessPoint" will use the XGate OR AxcessPoint OR GO! app to make the request. The GRIB forecast will come in as an email with a file attachment in the XGate OR AxcessPoint OR GO! app. To import tap the GRIB file attachment in the email and select "iNavX".

After requesting a GRIB, it will take approximately one minute before the GRIB is available.

Once a GRIB is selected in the "GRIBs" section, the specific date/time (local time) can be selected to show the forecast on the chart. [<<] and [>>] buttons can be selected on the Chart view to decrement or increment the forecast date. The Animate button can be selected to have the forecasts cycled. Note: GRIB data is typically at 0.5 degree resolution so be sure to use a chart that covers enough area to see the GRIB data (i.e. small scale) . The Action button in GRIB view allows selected GRIB to be emailed or deleted or unselected.

By default each full tick on each barb represents 10 knots. "Wind Speed" in the "Units" "Setup" view can be selected to change the units of each tick.
