Using Charts
Select a specific Chart region to get a list of available charts. Use the "Add More Charts To The Menu" to configure which region(s) list on the main menu.

The chart list can be filtered using the buttons:

Filter Result
Magnifying glass Search. All charts. Enter a partial chart number or chart name in search field. Sorted by chart number or alphabetically.
Triangle Position. Charts that intersect with your position sorted by scale.
Clock Recent. Charts which have been recently opened. Sorted by last chart opened.

Charts that are local (i.e. already downloaded from the chart server and stored locally) will be shown in a bold font. When a chart is selected that is not local, it must be downloaded from the chart server before using. This requires an internet connection (i.e. wifi or cell connection).

Note: Charts and maps OTHER than the NOAA charts require an account at x-traverse and the account settings (email & password) should be entered in the "Account" setup. Use the "Update Chart List" item to download the latest chart list.

Note: X-Traverse passwords should only include characters: A..Z and/or a..z and/or 0..9 x-traverse password reset

Note: "Update Chart List" will remove any charts from the selected region. The download all option when prompted to download a chart, will only download the charts from a region that are not already present on the device.

Note: Florida Charts are in the NOAA USA East region.

Once a chart is selected in the chart list, the chart will be displayed in the Chart view.

The Chart view can be scrolled by dragging. Zooming is performed by pinching the Chart view or tapping the Chart view and selecting "Zoom".

Double-tapping on the Chart view will start measure mode. Drag to measure distance and bearing. To measure from the current position, double-tap near the position icon or single tap the green circle. Single tap the red circle to create a waypoint. Single tap anywhere else on the chart to exit measuring.

Use the "+" and "-" buttons on the Chart view to display a menu of the next larger (more detail) or smaller scale (less detail) charts. Note: Not all charts have the ability to change scale.

Use the expand/contract button on the Chart view to toggle full screen display.

Tapping the "Chart" button a second time will scroll the chart to the position (if the position exists on the selected chart, otherwise a menu of available charts which contains the position will be displayed).

The directional arrow at the lower left hand corner of the Chart view is oriented relative to North on the chart. The arrow will have a green border if the chart can be oriented to a course up rotation or to a North up orientation. Tapping the directional arrow will toggle chart rotation. When the chart is rotated, the directional arrow will have a blue border.

In the event iNavX is exited while a chart is displayed, the next time iNavX is launched the last selected chart will be opened in the Chart view.

"Setup" can be selected to change various chart options: (Note: not all settings apply to every chart)

Automatically displays best detail chart
Ctr
Chart view is automatically scrolled such that the position icon is kept in the center of the Chart view. Note: This selection is automatically made when course up chart orientation is in use.
Offset
Chart view is automatically scrolled such that the position icon is kept in the Chart view offset relative to course. Note: SOG: must be at least 0.5 knots before an offset occurs.
None
Chart view is not automatically scrolled.
Pos. Icon Color Position icon will be filled with selected color. The color of the dot in the position icon indicates the accuracy of the plotted position: Gray = none, Yellow = weak, Green = strong, white = TCP/IP. Select clear color to enable plotting of "Own" AIS target.
Pos. Icon Size Position icon scaled between 75% and 150%.
Velocity Vector A line from the position to the projected position in the selected minute(s) will be displayed. The projection is made based on current speed and course. If the distance is set to "Max", then the vector will always be 300 NM in length regardles of speed. Note: AIS targets will cap vector length at 30 minutes.
Velocity Vector Color Velocity Vector will be drawn with selected color.
Range Ring A circle will be plotted with the selected radius around the position icon.
Waypoint For Course Up Orientation Course Up Orientation will use the active waypoint.
Night View Night time friendly palette of colors is used for the display of the chart.
High Resolution Display raster charts at highest resolution. Note: This may cause chart loading and display performance to suffer.
Long Tap New Waypoint Holding down on the Chart view for two seconds will create a new waypoint.
Waypoint Activated Alert Will display an alert and sound when ever a waypoint is activated (i.e. Goto).
